Ioana Cristina Goicea Violinist

Romanian violinist Ioana Cristina Goicea is one of the outstanding violinists of her generation. She won First Prize at the 2017 Michael Hill International Violin Competition in New Zealand, with critics praising her passionate performance and describing her as “a new star in the musical firmament.” In 2018 she won First Prize at the German Music Competition in Bonn and was a laureate of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. In 2019 she became a prize winner of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.

Ms. Goicea has performed as a soloist at renowned venues in Europe, Asia, America, New Zealand and Australia, among them the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, Cologne Philharmonie, St Martin-in-the-Fields London, the Melbourne Recital Centre, Wiener Konzerthaus, Bozar Brussels, Meistersingerhalle Nürnberg, the Shanghai Concert Hall, the Athenaeum Bucharest, Townhall Auckland. In addition to her career as a soloist, the young violinist is also an avid chamber musician.

She plays a J.B. Vuillaume violin, on loan from a generous private donour as well as a modern violin by Jürgen Manthey (Leipizig, 2021).

Ioana Cristina lives in Vienna and holds a Professorship at the University of Music and Performing Arts since 2020.

Ioana Cristina Goicea gehört zu den herausragenden Violinistinnen der jüngeren Generation. 2017 gewann sie den ersten Preis der Michael Hill Violin Competition in Neuseeland, wo die Presse ihre leidenschaftlichen Auftritte feierte und sie zum „neuen Stern am musikalischen Firmament“ ernannte. 2018 wurde sie erste Preisträgerin des Deutschen Musikwettbewerbs in Bonn und Preisträgerin des Internationalen Indianapolis Violinwettbewerbs in den USA. 2019 wurde sie Preisträgerin des Königin-Elisabeth-Wettbewerbs in Brüssel.

Im Oktober 2020 ist sie mit 27 Jahren zur Professorin für Violine an der renommierten Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien ernannt worden.

Sie gastierte solistisch in renommierten Konzerthäusern und bei Festivals in Europa, Asien, Amerika, Neuseeland und Australien. So war sie unter anderem im Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, St Martin-in-the-Fields London, Melbourne Recital Centre, Wiener Konzerthaus, Bozar Brussel, Meistersingerhalle Nürnberg, in der Shanghai Concert Hall und im Rumänischen Athenäum zu hören.

Neben ihrer Solistentätigkeit ist die junge Violinistin eine begeisterte Kammermusikerin.

Zurzeit spielt Sie eine Violine von J.B. Vuillaume, eine Leihgabe eines großzügigen privaten Gönners sowie eine moderne Violine von Jürgen Manthey (Leipzig, 2021).

Ioana Cristina Goicea se numără printre violonistele remarcabile ale tinerei generații. În 2017 a câștigat premiul întâi la Michael Hill Violin Competition din Noua Zeelandă, unde presa i‑a elogiat aparițiile pline de pasiune și a numit‑o „noua stea pe firmamentul muzical”. În 2018 a devenit laureată a Deutscher Musikwettbewerb din Bonn și a Concursului Internațional de Vioară Indianapolis din Statele Unite. În 2019 a fost laureată a Concursului Regina Elisabeta de la Bruxelles.

În octombrie 2020, la vârsta de 27 de ani, a fost numită profesoară de vioară la renumita Universitate de Muzică și Arte Interpretative din Viena.

A susținut recitaluri ca solistă în săli de concert și festivaluri prestigioase din Europa, Asia, America, Noua Zeelandă și Australia. A putut fi auzită, printre altele, la Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, St Martin‑in‑the‑Fields Londra, Melbourne Recital Centre, Wiener Konzerthaus, Bozar Bruxelles, Meistersingerhalle Nürnberg, Shanghai Concert Hall și la Ateneul Român.

Pe lângă activitatea solistică, tânăra violonistă este o pasionată interpretă de muzică de cameră.

În prezent cântă la o vioară de J.B. Vuillaume, un împrumut oferit de un generos mecena privat, precum și la o vioară modernă realizată de Jürgen Manthey (Leipzig, 2021).

Two rising stars in the international music scene are Romanian violinist Ioana Cristina Goicea and Russian pianist Andrey Gugnin. Between them they have won numerous awards and received worldwide accolades. Ioana won the 2017 Michael Hill International Competition, and Andrey was First Prize Winner of the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition. This recording is based on a live performance at Gallagher Concert Hall at the University of Waikato that took place in October last year.
